Every day these students get to experience music through movement, singing, and other fun activities. Not only will students learn the material individually, they will have the opportunity to learn the material as a whole class and in smaller groups. To insure that your students will receive lessons in all the elements of music, I have incorporated the nine national and state music standards into those lessons. Also, I will be incorporating the Common Core State Standards in English Language Arts, and Math. Those Anchor Standards can be found under the "links" tab. Please note that the first number in the math standards listed refers to the grade level that standard falls under.
In 3 week increments we will study a rhythm and series of pitches by learning them the first week, composing and improvising with them the second week, and then performing them and be assessed the third week. We will alternate three weeks of rhythm, and three weeks of pitch with the exception of taking breaks in the schedule for school holidays and rehearsing programs. The schedule of the curriculum can be found under the "links" tab.
*Note: Third grade will be the only grade that gets through all five rhythm and pitch components due to 4th-6th grades having two concerts instead of one.*
Check out the tabs for more information about our class!
Feel free to contact me, by phone or e-mail, with any comments, questions, or concerns you might have about the general music classroom! You are also welcome to stop by any time to see just how much fun we are having!
